Enjoy a beautiful day visiting the Villa San Michele and Augustus Gardens on this tiny Italian island, just off the coast of Naples. The Amalfi Coast - As the road snakes its way along the Amalfi Coast, a splendid view of the small towns, secluded bays, and deep gorges awaits. This narrow coastal road leads to towns of world wide fame such as Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. The heart of Ravello is the Piazza Vescovado, with the Castle ruins, the Cathedral and Palazzo Rufolo. Not to be missed is a visit to Villa Rufolo, a building which is home to much of the art of Ravello and surrounded by splendid gardens. We can also take the opportunity to visit Villa Cimbrone which stands in the centuries-old six hectare park, considered a most important site in landscaping and botanical terms, produced by the English romantic culture in the Mediterranean area in the late 19th and early 20th century, along with Russell Page’s La Mortella on the island of Ischia. Herculaneum – Herculaneum was submerged by a boiling mud slide from Vesuvius, which then solidified, preserving the ruins of the houses and streets. Smaller and less crowded than the more famous Pompeii, Herculaneum is in an excellent state of preservation and restoration continues to reveal important information to this day.
